NEED a footy fix? Aussie Rules club The Putney Magpies can give you the hit you need.
Based around Putney, Fulham and Hammersmith in South West London, this AFL club are looking for new players. Fast, slow, tall, short, fat, thin all are welcome to play. The only physical requirement; be male.
Women who are interested in ball sports can check out the Magpies netball club The Putney Blackbirds. They play social games while the Magpies are training.
Even if you have never seen or touched a Sherrin, or kicked one over the fence, The Putney Magpies can help you get started. They have three teams catering to all skill levels. They all compete in the AFL London competition, so you’ll be sure to get a game.
The classic AFL mantra It’s more than a game rings true at The Putney Magpies who are considered the most social club in London. They host many events throughout the year including a Booze Cruise on the Thames, scavenger pub crawls (including the highly anticipated end of season No Undie Sundie Pub Crawl), reverse raffles and more casual social catch ups.
Commencing 2nd February, pre-season training will take place at South Park in Fulham (a ten minute walk from Parsons Green underground) every Sunday from 1pm.
Home games are played every Saturday at Putney Heath at the Harlequins Rugby training grounds.
