21 Nov Pic 11 Active Touch

By Tracy Andrew

WE kicked off the Autumn Active Touch Leagues at Canary Wharf on Monday 18th November. We saw two fast paced, competitive games which went down to the wire. The first game was Tumeke vs Shake n Bake. Tumeke are a very strong side but Shake n Bake did really well, keeping their touchdowns to a minimum for most of the game. Shake n Bake also scored some awesome touchdowns of their own, but it just wasn’t enough to beat Tumeke and the final score was 11 – 5 to Tumeke.

The second game was played between Look, Don’t Touch and Canary Dwarfs. These two teams are starting to get very competitive with each other, and it’s becoming a battle every time. Canary Dwarfs kicked the match off with a very quick touchdown. But with some great team work and fast hands Look, Don’t Touch did just enough to edge past Canary Dwarfs winning the game 14 – 11. Canary Wharf is turning into a fantastic league with all teams possible contenders to take the grand prize; it will be an interesting next couple of weeks.

On Tuesday 19th November at Active Touch in Wandsworth, the weather was freezing outside, and all teams were very grateful to be playing Active Touch in the warm sports hall at Wandsworth. We started the evening with Hot Custard taking on Dark Matter in a tough, competitive game. Hot Custard and Dark Matter were going from touchdown to touchdown for most of the game. Dark Matter kicked into overdrive and managed to get ahead of Hot Custard, winning the game 8 – 5.

The next game was played by Hot Custard Jagermaestros and Pimp My Side. The individual’s team did really well and scored some fantastic touchdowns but they just couldn’t keep up with Hot Custard Jagermaestros who were playing out of their boots. They ended up winning the game by 13 – 8. We are looking forward to the next few weeks as it is going to be a close race to the finals.

On Thursday 21st November we saw the third week of the Thursday night Active Touch League at Wandsworth. The game at 18:30 was Beer Swilling Vikings taking on BBR London who have been unstoppable this season. Beer Swilling Vikings has increased their skills and learnt the game and are showing some promise. However Thursday nights are a very tough competition and it will be hard to beat any one of the sides. BBR London was in fine form with amazing hands and perfect skills to win the match 33 – 3.

The next game was Hot Custard vs Hot Custard Jagermaestros in an interclub clash. The teams were eager to start this match off and kicked straight into fifth gear. Hot Custard was the team to open up the scoring with some outstanding plays. Hot Custard Jagermaestros did come back though and did they come back. They scored four touchdowns in a row to equal up the scores by the halfway mark. The team in white, Hot Custard then shifted into overdrive scoring quick touchdowns in succession with great team work. The final score was Hot Custard 12 Hot Custard Jagermaestros 7. Next week we will see BBR London taking on Hot Custard and Hot Custard Jagermaestros vs Beer Swilling Vikings.
